X3: Reunion is another new title that is a bit too much
with all the details set to high. At lower resolutions though the Albatron
GeForce 7300GS128 should be alright for casual gaming.
Value Videocard for the
Mainstream Computer User
The mainstream
GeForce 6200TC videocard blew everything else in its
class away when it was introduced, and half a year later the GeForce 7300GS
is a huge upgrade over that model in terms of performance.
nVIDIA addressed a couple of the main issues with the
GeForce 6200TC that were bottle necking it, that being a relatively slow core
clock speed and increasing memory on the PCB of the videocard. These alterations
gives the Geforce 7300GS core its ability to perform in some cases 100% faster
than the GeForce 6200TC was capable of. All this
without having to raise videocard prices too. This we like. ;-)
With a retail price of $90 CDN ($78 USD/$45 GBP), the Albatron
GeForce 7300GS128 is an excellent mainstream videocard that offers a ton of
value up on screen. Computer users who are interested in getting into a bit of
gaming without shelling out a ton of money for a high end graphics cards now
have the perfect alternative. Sure it will not handle games at the highest
resolutions, but the Albatron GeForce 7300GS128 does support all the latest
graphics features so users can still enjoy all the DirectX 9.0C goodness.
The Albatron GeForce 7300GS128's medium sized cooler is
nearly silent and the card incorporates both DVI and analog VGA connectors.
Users with two monitors can take advantage of this and go dual screen, but
remember to bring your own DVI-to-Analog converter, one is not included. C'mon
Albatron! :-) The GeForce 7300GS128 has video output capabilities and Albatron
includes an S-Video to Composite converter cable for good measure.
In terms of performance, the Albatron GeForce 7300GS128
videocard posts pretty decent results given its GPU-class and sticker price.
Framerates in some cases were double compared to what the GeForce 6200TC could
manage. The GeForce 7300GS core is not overclocker friendly, at least all the
samples we've tested seem to indicate this.
The Albatron GeForce 7300GS128's "bang for the buck" ratio
is definitely very high and if you're a part-time gamer on a tight budget, this
is a blessing. For everyone else, videocards like the Albatron GeForce 7300GS128
offer a great deal of flexibility and definitely should be used over those
integrated video options Intel keeps flogging.
