By combining DirectX8 support with completely new graphics, 3DMark 2001 SE continues to provide a good overall system benchmark. 3DMark2001 SE was created in co-operation with the major 3D accelerator and processor manufacturers to provide a reliable set of diagnostic tools. The suite demonstrates 3D gaming performance by using real-world gaming technology to test a system's true abilities. Tests include: DirectX8 Vertex Shaders, Pixel Shaders and Point Sprites, DOT3 and Environment Mapped Bump Mapping, support for Full Scene Anti-aliasing and Texture Compression and two game tests using Ipion real-time physics. Higher 3DMark scores denote better performance.

3DMark2001 numbers are in line with the other nForce4 SLI motherboards. This benchmark cannot take advantage of the extra bandwidth available on the PCI Express bus when running in SLI mode.

3DMark05 is best suited for the latest generation of DirectX9.0 graphics cards. It is the first benchmark to require a DirectX9.0 compliant hardware with support for Pixel Shaders 2.0 or higher! 3DMark05 is one of the heavier benchmarks out there, but it doesn't take advantage of the extra bandwidth provided by the nForce4 SLI x16 chipset when running in SLI mode. This might also be due to the GeForce 7800GTX not being able to utilize that extra speed.... Future videocards might notice a larger difference here, we'll have to wait and see.
