Business Winstone 2004 runs real applications through a
series of scripted activities and uses the time a PC takes to complete these
activities to produce its performance scores.
Content Creation Winstone 2004 is a system-level,
application-based benchmark that measures a PC's overall performance when
running top, Windows-based, 32-bit, content creation applications in Windows
XP.

The Office Productivity tests put the Pentium
M 40 processor in an even better light. In fact this little mobile chip is
nipping at the heals of the AMD Sempron 3600+ and Intel's own Pentium D 840/940
processors! The Pentium M architecture sure has a lot of power even though the
chip is only running at 1.73 GHz.

SiSoft Sandra numbers are certainly interesting to look at.
The Pentium M 740 does not do very well in this benchmark and the numbers look
quite low. Real world performance is obviously different. Even though the
Pentium M 740 uses DDR2, it's a single channel memory controller which is why
memory bandwidth is so low.
