From what you're about to see of this Intel 975X Express based Foxconn motherboard running with an Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 processor, this bright red platform could be the makings of one very nice workstation computer!

Foxconn 975X7AB-8EKRS2H Motherboard Highlights
The bottom right
hand corner of the Foxconn 975X7AB-8EKRS2H motherboard is kind of crowded. Located here is
the additional IDE connector, a pair of green USB headers, four
blue Serial ATA channels and a yellow IEEE 1394 header in
close proximity. The Intel ICH7R Southbridge does generate a fair amount
of heat, but that is taken care of by the small low profile black passive
heatsink.

There is plenty of space
for expansion on the Foxconn 975X7AB-8EKRS2H motherboard. If you only plan on using a
single PCI Express x16 videocard, it must be inserted into the primary slot which
is coloured green. If ATI's dual CrossFire videocards are enabled, it's important to
connect up that one additional 4-pin molex power plug just above the
first PCI Express x1 slot.
|
The primary IDE
channel, floppy and 24 pin ATX power connectors are placed to the
right of the four
240-pin DDR-2 memory DIMM slots - the perfect position. Populate the DIMM slots
of the same colour first for dual channel memory. ECC or non-ECC DDR-2
800/667/533 RAM can be used with the Foxconn 975X7AB-8EKRS2H
motherboard.
|
The naked LGA775
processor socket exposed... but don't touch. The large active heatsink is enough to cool the Intel 975X Express
chipset. The chipset fan has RPM monitoring, and the CPU processor fan is
PWM compliant. Note the 8-pin EPS12V power connector just to the right of the CPU
socket.

There is enough space on the Foxconn
975X7AB-8EKRS2H motherboard to install two dual-slot PCI Express videocards and still have
room for at least one PCI Express x1 device and one PCI
card.
