DFI has put together yet another strong
AMD Athlon64 motherboard. The DFI LANPartyUT NF590 SLI-M2R/G will impress
even the most jaded computer enthusiast. It's the best Socket
AM2 motherboard on the market for tweaking.
Curiously, the overclocking results PCSTATS saw from
this platform weren't the quickest we've ever seen, but there is no denying that
the LANPartyUT board has good potential with the right combination of hardware.
Retailing for about $233 CDN ($206 US, £109 GBP), the
DFI LAN LANPartyUT NF590 SLI-M2R/G is pricey. Of course you get the usual
integrated list of peripherals; dual Gigabit network cards, IEEE 1394a, an
additional Serial ATA II controller and a 7.1 channel high definition audio
controller. Expansion is covered by three open PCI slots, PCI Express x4 and PCI
Express x8 slots. Not mention dual PCI Express x16 slots which are SLI
compatible.
Over all, I think it's safe to say that the DFI
LANPartyUT NF590 SLI-M2R/G performed well in all the benchmarks we through at
it. IT handled SYSMark 2004, 3DMark05, FarCry and even Doom 3 with ease. Often
it came in ahead of the Asus M2-CROSSHAIR and Foxconn C51XEM2AA; both of
which are pretty quick in their own right.
The DFI LANPartyUT NF590 SLI-M2R/G was a moderate overclocker,
hitting a 320 MHz motherboard clock speed. The real beauty of this board was its
ability to bring out the best of the surrounding hardware. For instance,
some quick tests with memory that's available in the PCSTATS test labs showed us
that memory can be pushed faster on the LANPartyUT NF590 SLI-M2R/G
motherboard than say the Foxconn C51XEM2AA, and in some cases significantly
better! Team the DFI LANPartyUT up with a strong supporting cast of computer
hardware and you'll have a system that flies!
If you're building yourself a new Socket AM2 system and
are looking at going high end, you owe it to yourself to check out the DFI
LANPartyUT NF590 SLI-M2R/G motherboard. It pretty much beats out every other
Socket AM2 motherboard we compared it against, and for the AMD family is one of
the best platforms at the moment.
