No other manufacturer can match the amount of options
available to users in a DFI LANParty BIOS. From loads of memory tweaks to
overclocking and voltage options, DFI rules the enthusiast market.
As you can see here there are a load of memory timing adjustments. Tweakers will spend weeks finding out exactly what the individual settings do. If
you are not familiar with the options, tweak one option at a time otherwise
you'll quickly get lost!
The
DFI LANPartyUT NF590 SLI-M2R/G allows motherboard clock frequency adjustments between 200-500 MHz, in 2 MHz increments. You can also adjust the
CPU to Northbridge HyperTransport speed, and width, as well as the
Northbridge/Southbridge HyperTransport connection. Remember nVIDIA's LinkBoost? Who needs that when you can adjust the
HyperTransport and PCI Express buses independently? At the moment, overclocking either
setting does not seem to benefit
performance, but that may change with the next generation of videocards.
You can increase the processor voltage up
to 1.94V, Northbridge voltage to 1.5V, Southbridge voltage to 1.8V, HyperTransport voltage to 1.5V
and memory voltage to 3.0V. Keep in mind that the DFI LANPartyUT NF590
SLI-M2R/G allows for voltages high enough to quickly damage hardware!
If you are not familiar with what
you're doing, definitely seek advice first! With water or phase change cooling, this is
the perfect opportunity to turn up the voltage to the processor for that
overclocking record attempt! Next we dive right into the benchmarks.
