Asus M2N32 WS Professional Motherboard Highlights

There is plenty of space between the two PCI Express x16 slots for videocards with dual slot heatsinks. There are two PCI Express x1 slots, one 32 bit PCI slot and two 64 bit PCI-X slots for expansion as well. At the bottom of the ASUS M2N32 WS Professional motherboard we find the two IEEE 1394a ports along with the USB 2.0 headers. All headers are at the bottom of the motherboard, including; a COM or Serial port header, two USB 2.0 headers and two IEEE 1394a headers.

Looking at the bottom right hand corner of the Asus M2N32 WS Professional motherboard we find two IDE channels, nine Serial ATA II channels. Of these, six are from the nForce 590 SLI MCP and three from a Marvell controller. The system supports RAID 0/1/5/10 via the nVIDIA MCP55XE Southbridge chipset; NCQ and 'hot plug' are standard. The Marvell Serial ATA II controller does not support RAID.

Clearance for the first PCI Express x1 slot is tight. The two PCI-X slots at center have enough room behind them for long expansion cards to be installed.

The Asus M2N32 WS Professional has four 240-pin DDR-2 memory DIMM slots which accommodate 8GB of DDR-2 800/667/533 RAM. Populate the DIMM slots of the same colour first, for dual channel memory. To the right of the DIMM slots are the main 24 pin ATX power connector, IDE and floppy drive connectors.

As we can see here all the cooling solution is very fancy. The small heatsink on the MCP55XE Southbridge conducts heat though the heatpipe to the small heatsink on the Northbridge. The C51XE also transfers a bit of heat to the MOSFET heatsink too.

Asus have implemented a PCB technology called "stackcool", which is only just visible on the underside of the ASUS M2N32 WS Professional.
