ASRock motherboard highlights
In terms of
expansion the Asrock ALiveNF7G-HDready has a single PCI Express x1 slot for high
bandwidth peripherals, a PCI Express x16 slot for videocards and two PCI
slots for misc hardware. At the bottom left hand corner, you find the
audio connectors, from the analog line from the optical drives to the
SPDIF in/out. Next to the audio jacks is the floppy drive connector and
the internal IEEE 1394a
header.

The
bottom right hand corner of the
Asrock ALiveNF7G-HDready motherboard is pretty busy. There are four Serial ATA II slots
(which are RAID compatible), just below them are four blue USB 2.0
headers. Just under that is the front panel I/O header. The nVIDIA GeForce
7050PV and nForce 630A chipsets are integrated into one silicon die and
are cooled with a small passive aluminum heatsink. Good thing it produces
less heat then the previous GeForce 6150
chipset.
|
The four DDR2 memory slots support a maximum of 8GB of
DDR2-800 memory in a dual channel configuration. ASRock colour coordinate
the memory slots so you know which slots to occupy to enable dual channel
mode.
|
Space around the CPU socket is a bit tight so if
you're using a heatsink that hangs over the side, you may have a problem here.
The Asrock ALiveNF7G-HDready motherboard is compatible with older ATX 1.4 spec
power supplies (20
pin).
|
The Asrock ALiveNF7G-HDready motherboard natively runs with a
24 pin ATX 2.0 spec power supply however if you're using an older ATX
1.4 spec PSU that will be ok too. There are two fan headers here. The four
pin PWM power connector is for the processor heatsink fan and the three
pin fan header by the PCI Express x1 slot can be used with a case
exhaust fan. It's also good to use this with an aftermarket videocard
cooler.
