With onboard video care of a Geforce 7-series videocard and nVIDIA's PureVideo acceleration technology, this compact MicroATX mobo is the basis for a very versatile little rig. 78% Rating:
Playing high definition content on current generation PCs can bog down
even the fastest processors because there is more data to
handle. To test AVIVO's HD accelerating
capabilities, we played the High Definition 720P Blu-Ray movie The League of
Extraordinary Gentlemen through CyberLink PowerDVD 7.2 Ultra.
CPU utilization was monitored during playback through Task Manager to give a
general indication of system load. CPU used for PureVideo tests was the AMD Athlon64
FX-62.

According to
ASRock, PureVideo especially with an integrated videocard is very heavily
CPU dependant. In fact ASRock recommends an Athlon64 X2 5200+ (and
min. 2GB RAM) when viewing H.264 High Definition movies. In any case CPU
usage with nVIDIA PureVideo enabled generally
jumped between 55-65% which is much higher than we're use to.
Surprisingly when nVIDIA
PureVideo is disabled, CPU usage actually goes down
and hovers between 45-55%. It's possible that PureVideo does not like to
share memory between the CPU and onboard videocard. In any case no
matter what you run, CPU load still allows applications to run in the background
while providing smooth video playback.

All
things considered, the ASRock ALiveNF7G-HDready motherboard overclocks well
for an integrated motherboard! Too bad there are no chipset voltage
options...
