Overclocking is alive and well! PCSTATS has all the details
you need to see at a glance to know which board is best. The chart we've
compiled below lists the highest overclocked Front Side Bus speeds we were able
to achieve while maintaining 100% stability.
Asus is
definitely good at overclocking and it holds the three of the top five spots in
our overclocking chart! The BLITZ Extreme motherboard is very fast and you'll be
happy with the performance it provides.
Intel P35 Express and DDR3
is pretty fast
With its BLITZ series of motherboards, Asus
definitely raises the bar for every manufacturer out there. The motherboards are
not just fancy, loaded with integrated features and fast, they also come with
games and a whole array of cooling devices! Whether you'll find them useful or
not, it's interesting to see Asus include so many things.
For around $300 CDN ($296USD, £145 GBP) you can get
the Asus BLITZ Extreme motherboard, the game STALKER and a little factory ready
factory ready watercooled chipset heatsink compatible by default, you know the
motherboard will be sweet.
From using the Asus BLITZ Extreme motherboard, the
design feels like it was done by a computer enthusiast. Everything from the
layout of the expansion slots, the many USB 2.0 slots on the rear I/O and drive
connector positioning is in the absolute best spot.
The Asus BLITZ Extreme motherboard is based on Intel's
mainstream P35 Express chipset, and while it's not quite as quick as the Intel
P35 Express/DDR2 Asus BLITZ Formula motherboard combo, it is still plenty quick.
When quad core processors become more popular DDR3 should start to prove its
worth as it's the only memory standard which can provide enough bandwidth to
those hungry processors. Of course if you're into overclocking the Asus BLITZ
Extreme will definitely keep you happy; we were able run the BLITZ Extreme at a
very quick 530 MHz FSB. The Asus BLITZ Extreme is comes fully loaded but its
price may keep it out of the hands of all but the hardcore enthusiast. Pity
since it's a motherboard that all would love to use, that's for sure!
