Crysis is a science fiction first-person shooter
developed by Crytek. Crysis uses Microsoft's new API, DirectX 10 for graphics
rendering, and includes the new engine—the CryEngine 2—that is the successor to
Far Cry's CryEngine. CryEngine 2 is among the first engines to use the DirectX
10 framework of Windows Vista, but can also run using DirectX 9, both on Vista
and Windows XP.

Crysis
really only scales to two cores, and after that things like clockspeed, cache
efficency and processor-to-system bandwidth become more important. The result is
that the Athlon II X4 635 CPU simply doesn't do all that well in gaming tests
like this, you'll be better served with a faster videocard than anything else!

Windows 7 doesn't change how Crysis behaves on a test
system configured to be CPU-limited. By dialing down the graphical elements to
the point where they are no longer videocard-limited, we can see what
impact the processor, number of cores/threads, and elements like clock speed
have. Core for core, the Intel Core i5 750 manages 104FPS while the AII X4 635
pushes out just 76FPS.
