Just when you thought Apple had taken over the world
(not to mention put Microsoft into number two spot), ASUS releases an iPad like
tablet with more features, more power, and 10.1" and 12" screen models. It's not called an iPad, iSlate or even iTablet, ASUS have named its slim silver Netbook-like-Pad the Eee Pad.
PCSTATS has a few minutes of one-on-one time with a pair of ASUS Eee Pads, the pure ePad version and a non-functioning prototype called the ASUS EP121 Tablet.
Specs include an nVidia T20 or Core 2 Duo processor,
801.11 b/g/n wireless, 512MB - 2GB DDR2 memory, Windows 7 OS, 0.3Mpix camera and
choice of SSD drive. The 10" screen tablet costs between $400 - $500 and the 12"
tablet is expected to retail for between $500 - $700.
Battery life is 6-10 hours and 3-4 hours respectively. Available in the first
quarter of 2011, ASUS is taking the opportunity to launch a dedicated AppStore
for its tablet devices too. PCSTATS will have more information to come... right
