wPrime uses a recursive call of Newton's method for
estimating functions, with f(x)=x2-k, where k is
the number we're sqrting, until Sgn(f(x)/f'(x)) does not equal that of the
previous iteration, starting with an estimation of k/2. It then uses an
iterative calling of the estimation method a set amount of times to increase the
accuracy of the results. It then confirms that n(k)2=k to ensure the calculation was correct. It repeats
this for all numbers from 1 to the requested maximum.
Lower
calculation times are better. wPrime is multi-threaded.

Wprime fills in where SuperPi leaves off, allowing
PCSTATS to stress one core, or any number of cores up to the total amount in the
processor. The CPUs benchmarked here range from two to eight threads, so the
most important result set to pay attention to is the final block (all
threads).
With all four of its threads unleashed, the 3.1GHz Athlon
II X4 645 is competitively paced against Intel's Core i5 750 (about dead even)
and just three seconds off the low calculation time of the eight-threaded Core
i7 920, Phenom II X6 1075T and 1090T CPUs.
