Double-sided mouse surface
What's unique about this 'mouse system' as they call it,
is not the metal tin it comes carefully packaged in, but that this mouse pad consists of two parts.
The base of the Surface 1030 is a rubber pad. The rubber pad has slits
to allow a small metal clip to firmly hold the mouse cable in place, and is recessed
to hold the double sided mouse surface in position. The surface which the mouse glides over
is a stiff piece of material.
|
The two component system that Func
Industries opted to utilize enables you to flip the mousing surface over
for either a smooth or rough surface. Some ball mice operate better on the
rough surface, while an optical mouse would be at home on the smooth
side.

|
The smooth surface works best with
optical mice for the least amount of drag.
|
The rougher surface operates extremely
well with ball mice, providing enough grip to stop stuck cursors, and
enough of a glide to keep things moving fast.
|
|
|
The mousing surface rests in a rubber
base which not only ensures the mouse pad stays in one place but also has
small holes where a special clip can be attached.
|
The clip that ships with the Func
Surface 1030 is designed to keep the mouse's cord out of the way, and
untangled. There are six positions the clip can be attached to depending
on the configuration of your desk space.

So how does all this stack up in the end?
