Benchmarks: AquaMark03, Comanche 4, X2: The Threat
AquaMark3
is a powerful tool to determine reliable information about the gaming
performance of computer systems. Because the benchmark extensively utilizes
DirectX9, DirectX8 and DirectX7 functionality, it represents the requirements of
typical gaming applications in 2003 and 2004.

The VIA PT8984 scores slightly less than the other
motherboards but you're not going to notice it when gaming for sure.
The
Comanche 4 benchmark demo is a unique test as it represents a real-world gaming
experience. It contains the single player "Eagle's Talon" mission from the game
as well as a detailed cinematic. This DirectX 8.1 benchmark demo will measure
your system's performance in the standard frames per second format. The
benchmark was run with audio disabled.

Here we see the VIA PT894 reference board do better.
Overall the PT894 sits exactly where we'd expect, just under that of the
925X.
A
completely rewritten 3D engine based on DirectX8 encompasses many visual effects
such as volumetric Nebulae (gas clouds) that have a real impact in the game (you
can hide in them) and many new engine, shield, weapon and explosion effects.
Objects cast real dynamic 3D shadows! Dynamic DP3 bump mapping allows a
previously unseen level of detail.

Here in X2: The Threat we again see a strong showing
from the VIA PT894 reference board. It sits second place just behind the 925X
mobo.
