Intel are known more for their line of incredibly successful processors than their motherboards, but if the D850GB is any indication, they can definitely hold their own...

Rounding out the onboard features
Over all the
D850GB we have for review is slim on the features. After reading more about the
board we've noticed that there are several other versions which come with
onboard NIC, diagnostic LED's, and a host of other small features. For the average workstation user, what we have before us is
the perfect combination of a slimmed down set of features that
performance users generally avoid like the plague anyway.
The only odd part that I noticed
on the D850GB was the single serial port. This doesn't affect how I would use
this board, but it is something to keep in mind.
Other features which round out the D850GB include wake on LAN,
wake on ring, power saving S3 mode, Ir
port.
D850GB BIOS
The BIOS that ships with the D850GB is not what you might
expect to see from the likes of MSI, Asus, Iwill or Abit. There
are absolutely no overclocking features and no way to even tweak memory settings.
Granted this motherboard is not really being targeted to this market, but it
is kind of funny as you get that "look but don't touch"
feeling.
That's not to say there is nothing
unique about the BIOS, it's just manifested in a different way. By enabling
Intel Rapid Boot the computer will load up quicker than it normally might. The
is accomplished by optimizing the boot-up sequence and getting rid of redundant
or unnecessary processes.
