Benchmarks: ScienceMark 2.0, Minigzip

ScienceMark 2.0 32-bit and 64-bit Source: ScienceMark

Mol Dyn: Molecular Dynamics is a method for simulating the thermodynamic behaviour of materials using their forces, velocities, and positions. Most important of the afore mentioned is the force. Primordia: This code calculates the Quantum Mechanical Hartree-Fock Orbital for each electron in any element of the periodic table Lower times indicate better results.

ScienceMark 2 32-bit
Mol Dyn: Seconds Ranking
WindowsXP 32-bit Stock (2.4 GHz) 73.59
WindowsXP 32-bit Overclocked(2.64 GHz) 67.46
WindowsXP 64-bit Stock (2.4 GHz) 99.63
WindowsXP 64-bit Overclocked (2.64 GHz) 91.42
Primordia: Seconds Ranking
WindowsXP 32-bit Stock (2.4 GHz) 343
WindowsXP 32-bit Overclocked (2.64 GHz) 312.49
WindowsXP 64-bit Stock (2.4 GHz) 350.41
WindowsXP 64-bit Overclocked (2.64 GHz) 320.66
ScienceMark 2 64-bit (only)
Mol Dyn: Seconds Ranking
WindowsXP 32-bit Stock (2.4 GHz) 0
WindowsXP 32-bit Overclocked (2.64 GHz) 0
WindowsXP 64-bit Stock (2.4 GHz) 33.85
WindowsXP 64-bit Overclocked (2.64 GHz) 31.99
Primordia: Seconds Ranking
WindowsXP 32-bit Stock (2.4 GHz) 0
WindowsXP 32-bit Overclocked (2.64 GHz) 0
WindowsXP 64-bit Stock (2.4 GHz) 333.85
WindowsXP 64-bit Overclocked (2.64 GHz) 304.52

While crunching numbers in WindowsXP x64 Edition is slightly slower, we see similar overclocking results for both 32-bit and 62-bit operating systems. The 64-bit only test shows the full potential of 64-bit capable processors like the AMD Athlon64 4000+.

Mini-GZIP Source: zlib

The Mini-GZIP benchmark contains both 64-bit benchmark that measures the performance of an AMD64 optimized version of ZLIB. It also contains a 32-bit benchmark implemented with the standard (unmodified) ZLIB. Lower times are better.

Minigzip
minigzip 32bit Seconds Ranking
WindowsXP 32-bit Stock (2.4 GHz) 7.687
WindowsXP 32-bit Overclocked (2.64 GHz) 7.023
WindowsXP 64-bit Stock (2.4 GHz) 7.703
WindowsXP 64-bit Overclocked (2.64 GHz) 7.078
minigzip 64bit Seconds Ranking
WindowsXP 32-bit Stock (2.4 GHz) 0
WindowsXP 32-bit Overclocked (2.64 GHz) 0
WindowsXP 64-bit Stock (2.4 GHz) 3.438
WindowsXP 64-bit Overclocked (2.64 GHz) 3.109

Overclocking to the same speed produces similar results on both platforms here. Again, the true 64-bit benchmarks appear to be massively faster.
