Mol Dyn:
Molecular Dynamics is a method for simulating the thermodynamic behaviour of
materials using their forces, velocities, and positions. Most important of the
afore mentioned is the force. Primordia: This code calculates the Quantum
Mechanical Hartree-Fock Orbital for each electron in any element of the periodic
table Lower times indicate better
results.

A regular
Athlon64 4000+ completes the Mol Dyn benchmark in about 72 seconds so we see a
decent performance boost already. Primordia times are about the same as the
single core Athlon64 4000+. ScienceMark 2.0 numbers are quite good, but we see
that 64 bit computing, whether using the 32 bit or 64 bit version of the
program, is slower than when running in the 32 bit environment.
The
Persistence of Vision Ray Tracer (POV-Ray) is an all round excellent package,
but there are two things that particularly make it stand out above the rest of
the crowd. Firstly, it's free, and secondly, the source is distributed so you
can compile it on virtually any platform.
Lower
numbers denote faster calculation times (seconds), and hence, better
performance.

POVray is another single threaded CPU cruncher, one
thing is for sure, if you plan to go with a dual core processor it pays to find
out if your programs are SMP compatible! POVRay performs the same no matter if
it is running on a 32 bit or 64 bit operating system. The results are pretty
quick!
SPECviewperf™ is a portable OpenGL performance benchmark
program written in C. It was developed by IBM. Later updates and significant
contributions were made by SGI, Digital and other SPECopcSM project group members. SPECviewperf provides a
vast amount of flexibility in benchmarking OpenGL performance.

The programs within SPECviewperf do not take advantage
of dual core processors, however it seems like WindowsXP Professional x64
Edition helps.
