Advanced Benchmarks: FarCry, Doom 3, FEAR
Real-time
editing, bump mapping, static lights, network system, integrated physics system,
shaders, shadows, and a dynamic music system are just some of the state
of-the-art features that the CryENGINE offers. The game was set to Ultra quality
and the Ubisoft's Regulator and Training demos were run.
Do we get awesome performance when
running 1600x1200 with the highest quality settings? Yup. The Asus EN7800GT
2DHTV/256M/OSP/A still kicks some major pixels. It's funny to see how little SLI
helps out when AA+AF is enabled at its max. The power of marketing is strong in
this one...
Doom 3 is
the most advanced OpenGL game to date. It takes advantage of the latest
videocard technology and pushes the processing power of the CPU to its absolute
limits. At its highest setting, Ultra quality, texture sizes pass the 500MB mark
which means even tomorrow's videocards will have a hard time running everything.
The frame rates in the game itself are locked at 60 fps so anything above that point is
wasted. Each test is run three times and with the third run being
recorded.
It is amazing to look at these Doom 3
framerates. Even with AA+AF enabled, a single Asus EN7800GT 2DHTV/256M/OSP/A
videocard is perfectly playable. When running in SLI, we can turn on all
the eye candy and not worry about laggy framerates!
