Doom 3 is
the most advanced OpenGL game to date. It takes advantage of the latest
videocard technology and pushes the processing power of the CPU to its absolute
limits. At its highest setting, Ultra quality, texture sizes pass the 500MB mark
which means even tomorrow's videocards will have a hard time running everything.
The frame rates in the game itself are locked at 60 fps so anything above that point is
wasted. Each test is run three times and with the third run being
recorded.

The AMD Athlon64 FX-60 walks all over the Intel Pentium
D 840 in Doom 3.... all this while drawing less electrical power to do it.
Quake 4 is the latest shooter from ID and is based on
the Doom 3 engine. Tweaked to for more eye candy, Quake 4 promises to be tougher
on videocards and systems than its predecessor was. Quake 4 also does not have a
60 fps limiter like Doom 3, with the Ultra setting, graphic textures can surpass
the 500MB mark!

The results are much closer in Quake 4, however the
Athlon64 FX-60 produces frame rates which are 26% faster at stock speeds.
The game
tells the tale of Master Chief, the last surviving Spartan -- a genetically
enhanced breed of future super soldier, as he battles mankind's greatest threat
-- the Covenant. Released in 2003, Halo is Microsoft/Bungie's first person
shooter classic. The game takes advantage of DirectX 9 shaders as well as Pixel
Shader 2.0.

We're starting to see a trend here, the AMD Athlon64
FX-60 produces results which are in general about 20-30% faster than the Intel
Pentium D 840 in most games. That's a huge competitive advantage for gamers who
need every last frame.
