The complex copper fin and dual heat pipe passive Voltage Regulator Module (VRM) and nForce 5 SPP/MCP chipset cooling system of the Asus M2N32-SLI Deluxe motherboard is shown hovering above the devices it attaches too. Below, the cooling apparatus removed from the motherboard and flipped over to show the gap filler pads and chipset contact pads. A small squirrel cage fan can be clipped onto one block of copper cooling fins for added airflow if desired. The practical side to a chipset and VRM cooling system like this is silence; the passively cooled copper fins can work with existing system airflow alone.

At the rear IO of the ASUS M2N32SLI Deluxe motherboard we find the external SATA jack (eSATA), coaxial and optical SP/DIF audio outputs, the twin Marvel Gigabit ethernet network connections, Firewire and USB2.0 ports. Adjacent to an additional SATA port shown below (provided by the Silicon Image 3132 controller) is the 4-pin PWM CPU fan header.
