Highlights of the Syncmaster 940UX
Before we proceed with display tests, let's take a closer look at
the 19" Samsung Syncmaster 940UX LCD. The display has
clean lines and a very thin silver
bezel around the LCD panel. The logos and markings are done in dark grey so
as not to be distracting. The two-port USB hub is located on the back, about
half way up along the left hand edge. The six control buttons are discrete but easy
to operate.
The
Syncmaster 940UX screen itself pivots 90 degrees, transforming from 'landscape'
to a 'portrait' view with a native resolution of 1024x1280. This is great for
reading full webpages or editing pages of text without constantly having
to scroll up and down. You can see this in the image below,
and note the location of those two USB ports when
it's swung around to the portrait orientation.
The rear of the Samsung Syncmaster 940UX features a DVI, analog and USB input jack.
A full size AC power plug connects to the display and there is a hard power
switch. This is more environmentally friendly with respect to reducing phantom power
consumption. The USB uplink port is adjacent to the DVI/Analog jacks, and a two-port USB hub
is visible along the right edge in the photo below. A Kensington security hole
is present in the bottom right corner. This helps to
prevent expensive technology from walking out of your office door. On
the base is a cable management loop to keep the video, USB and power
wires organized.
The 19" Samsung 940UX display
can be detached from the base for wall mounting if desired. Two screws secure the
supplied base to the back of the LCD panel. Underneath are a set
of four standard 75mm VESA mounting points.
