Enter the AMD Athlon II X3 435 processor, the focus of this PCSTATS review. It's a 2.9GHz triple-core socket AM3 CPU built on the Propus die. So is it better to get a dual core CPU, a triple-core CPU or a
quad-core CPU?

32-Bit CPU Calculation Benchmarks: wPrime2.0
wPrime
uses a recursive call of Newton's method for estimating functions, with
f(x)=x2-k, where k is the number we're sqrting,
until Sgn(f(x)/f'(x)) does not equal that of the previous iteration, starting
with an estimation of k/2. It then uses an iterative calling of the estimation
method a set amount of times to increase the accuracy of the results. It then
confirms that n(k)2=k to ensure the calculation
was correct. It repeats this for all numbers from 1 to the requested
maximum.
Lower calculation times are better. wPrime is
multi-threaded.

While the Athlon II X3 435 was hurting in the previous
single-threaded benchmarks, here it can finally put all three of its cores to
work. The results are easy victories over all of the dual-core processors on the
test bench, the Athlon II X3 435 even manages to edge out AMD's other triple
core processor, the Phenom II X3 720 Black Edition.

Windows 7 benchmarks look much the same as Windows
Vista, with only a tenth of a second improvement in the time it takes to
caculate prime numbers to 32 million digits.
