During our tests the system worked every time. The only times we were denied
access was if the thumb was held lightly against the sensor window.
In another biometric mouse we have been testing, which uses a much smaller capacitive
sensor, we experienced some issues with the sensor getting dirty. So far that has
not been an issue with the Umatch.
The choice between a capacitive or optical fingerprint acquisition technology
is one of personal preference. Both technologies have their strong and
weak points, but from our experiences the optical system in this mouse
appears to be a bit more forgiving. After all, the last thing anyone
wants is a biometric security which can't consistently authentic its' own
users!
Considering the ease of use, ergonomic design and most importantly, the
technology behind the Umatch Biolink Mouse (we're talking the BioVault
application specifically) we have chosen to awarded it the Pcstats.com Editor's
Choice Award.
So far this is the most comprehensive biometric authentication system we
have seen. More importantly it remained easy to operate, and consistently
authorized us... 'cause if it had locked me out of this computer you wouldn't be
reading this right now. So there.
