There are two constants in the world of computers. The first is that the fellow with the fastest processor has the best bragging rights, and the second is that the person with the largest monitor is the most envied. It all comes down to the bigger the display, the better.

With that in mind the CM810 should stand out quite well. At 21" it is one of the largest sizes currently available in the display market. On top of that, the CM810 retails for only about $690USD, which is phenomenal lest you forget that we're talking about a twenty-one inch display here.

With its' 21" display and 0.22mm dot pitch the CM810 comes packed with an Invar shadow mask and antireflective coatings to reduce glare from the large (20" viewable) display glass as well as dual 15-pin video inputs and an optional USB hub. On top of that, it has a footprint comparable to most 19" displays.

Hitachi CM810 CRT:

  • 21" picture tube
  • Dot pitch of 0.22mm
  • 1600 x 1200 Resolution
  • Dual 15-pin D-sub analog video inputs.
  • Processor-based design and digital controls
  • Comes with: 6 foot power cord, 6 foot video cable, drivers, manual.
  • Manufacturer: Hitachi Displays
  • Cost: ~$690 USD
  • There are a couple features on this display we found very unique, and quite useful to say the least. Given that large monitors generally take up a large chunk of desk space it was interesting to see that Hitachi had made room for an optional USB hub in the rear of the cabinet. The hub is an optional feature and was not included with our unit.

While the inclusion of a USB hub is a nice amenity, the addition of a dual 15-pin video inputs is a excellent feature on any monitor. The dual inputs allow this monitor to be used on to computer systems, simply jumping between the two by the press of a button - no restarting necessary.
