Unreal Tournament 2003 is the sequel to 1999's
multiple 'Game of the Year' award winner. It uses the very latest Unreal Engine
technology - where graphics, sound and game play are taken beyond the bleeding
edge. Unreal Tournament 2003 employs the use of Vertex as well as Pixel Shaders
and it's recommended that you use a DirectX 8 videocard to get the most out of
the game.
The GA-8IPE1000 Pro is one fast motherboard. Again at stock
speeds the board performs identical to the i875P based motherboards and
overclocking just makes things better.
One Fast board!
I think even Intel underestimated the
i865PE's appeal... without PAT the i865PE has an excellent price performance ratio, with the ability
to turn on PAT, that's simply "icing on the cake".
After all why would someone in their
right mind want to spend more on an i875P based motherboard when you can get
the same performance out of a less expensive i865PE board?
The GA-8IPE1000 Pro2 is a no frills motherboard, that should be pretty
obvious with only Intel CSA Gigabit LAN, 5.1 audio, IEEE 1394 and dual BIOS'. If
you need more simply buy the PCI peripherals and install them into one of the
five PCI slots. The physical layout of the board is very good everything is in
the right spot and things are well labelled.
Gigabyte's new CIA technology works quite well and is easy to use. Seeing FSB
adjustments and voltage controls can be discouraging for the novice enthusiast,
changing a percentage is much easier. Of course with that said I don't think CIA
should be enabled by default as it overclocks the system right from the get go,
and may give the end user some warranty problems.
With PAT enabled by default (thanks to the MIB feature)
the board performed very well. It was as fast as the more expensive i875P
competition and if that's not good enough for you, overclock it! The Gigabyte
GA-8IPE1000 Pro2 was a very
good overclocker and in our case we were able to hit 230 MHz FSB.
If you're looking
for a fast board that doesn't have too many features (that you wouldn't use anyway) the Gigabyte
GA-8IPE1000 Pro2 is a nice board that should be on your list for consideration.
