The 10.6" widescreen display has a default resolution of
1280x768 (WXGA) pixels, and is easily the best aspect of this notebook. Assuming
you have the eyes for it, this resolution offers plenty of screen real-estate,
even on this tiny screen. It really provides a gorgeous picture
too, but the glossy screen surface can pick up light from
background objects which may be distracting in some situations.
The integrated combo CDRW/DVD drive burns CD-R
media at 24X, CDRW at 10X and reads DVD media at
8X.
Networking options include the integrated 'Centrino'
Intel/IBM 802.11b/g wireless networking card (miniPCI) and a standard
10/100 wired RJ45 Ethernet port and RJ11 56K modem jack. The Ethernet and
telephone cable jacks are kept hidden behind rubber flaps - which also
helps keep the dust out. Bluetooth is also supported,
a feature that will be appreciated by the mobile warriors out
there.
Physical ports on the laptop include a pair of USB 2.0 ports, an I-link (IEE1394) port, PCMCIA, Memory stick Pro slot
and a VGA-out. Two mini headphone jacks and a microphone jack are also
present on the front edge of the VAIO VGN-T140P/L notebook.
