Benchmarks: Super PI, PCmark2002, PCMark 04
SuperPI
calculates the number PI to 1 Million digits in this raw number crunching
benchmark. The program allows the user to change the number of digits of PI that
can be calculated from 16 thousand to 32 million. Our benchmark is set to 1
Million digits and 19 iterations.

    | 1 Million Digits: | Seconds | Ranking |
    | Sony VAIO VGN-T140P | 66 | | Not the greatest result, but
decent number crunching for a 1.1GHz processor. The Pentium M chips are
certainly a cut above older P4 designs at the same speed.

PCMark 2002
can be used on desktop PCs, Laptops and even Workstations and tests home and
office computing usage. PCMark specifically stresses the CPU, memory subsystem, graphics subsystem, hard drives,
WindowsXP GUI (if WinXP is used) and video performance.
 Again, good all around marks
in this test. The Sony VAIO VGN-T140P is a good multi-tasking machine thanks to
its 512MB of memory.

The latest version of the popular PCMark series,
PCMark04 is an application-based benchmark and a premium tool for measuring
overall PC performance. It uses portions of real applications instead of
including whole applications or using specifically created code. This allows
PCMark04 to maintain a smaller installation size while still giving accurate
results.
 The Sony VAIO VGN-T140P scores
well here, again underlining its general working power. The graphics score is
low, which is not surprising given the integrated Intel chipset the laptop uses.
As we will see later, it is not the most accomplished gaming machine in the
world.
