The first
of two Gigabyte entries into the roundup, the Gigabyte
GV-NX66T128D is a PCI Express-based videocard using the higher speed 6600GT GPU.
It is SLI capable, as you can see from the MIO connector on the upper-front of
the card. Clock speeds are set at the default 500MHz core/1000MHz memory of most
6600GT models.
For video
memory, the GV-NX66T128D card features 128MB of Samsung K4J55323QF-GC20 GDDR3
BGA DRAM.
The
videocard has a smallish fan and heatsink combo that covers the core, but not
the memory. This heatsink was extremely quiet in operation. The front of the
Gigabyte GV-NX66T128D provides standard VGA and DVI connectors as well as an
S-video out which doubles as the connector for the included breakout box. No
extra power connector is required for this card.
The
bundle includes the aforementioned breakout box which is a video-out only type
featuring both component and S-video outputs and a handy velcro strip; also
included are copies of Joint Operations: Typhoon rising and Thief: Deadly
shadows as well as PowerDVD 5 and PowerCreator 3. A DVI-to-analog converter is
tossed in for dual-monitor operation.
Overclocking: We were able to achieve stable
speeds of 568MHz core, 1.07Ghz memory on the Gigabyte GV-NX66T128D videocard.
Individually, the core and especially the memory were able to overclock a fair
bit higher, but together this was the maximum we could achieve. Not the best of
overclocking results, but far from the worst we've seen.
