MSI NX6600GT-VTD128 AGP

The second AGP card in our roundup, the MSI 6600GT-based MSI NX6600GT-VTD128 AGP videocard sports 128MB of Samsung GDDR3 BGA memory. It's core is clocked to the conventional 500MHz, and the memory on our test model actually ran at 900MHz, 100MHz slower than most 6600GT-based cards.

MSI NX6600GT-VTD128 - AGP8x
Includes:

Users Manual, Quick Installation Guide, Driver CD, MSI 3D Software, WinDVD, WinDVD Creator, Restore It!/Virtual Drive CD, Software Super Pack CD, 14 in 1 CD, URU CD, Price of Persia CD's, XIII CD's, DVI to analog converter, S-Video to S-Video cable, VIVO cable

Unlike most of the other videocards in this roundup, the MSI NX6600GT-VTD128 AGP is fully VIVO capable and features a breakout cable with S-video and composite inputs. This is good news for multimedia enthusiasts.

As with the Albatron Trinity Geforce 6600GT, the AGP interface of the means that there is no SLI support and external power is required. The flashy medium-sized heatsink is twinned to a second, smaller cooler for the AGP-PCI Express bridge chip, and is fastened to the back of the card by an unusual looking metal clip. The fan attached to the main heatsink was extremely quiet, like that of almost all the other cards in this roundup. The front of the card sports the now standard VGA, DVI and S-Video/breakout box connectors.

MSI's bundle for both of their cards in this roundup is impressive, at least in volume; 15 CDs are packed into the box! Full versions of Prince of Persia, XIII and Uru: Ages beyond Myst make up the gaming bundle, while applications like WinDVD, WinDVD creator and RestoreIT round out the applications. Also included are an S-video cable, and a VIVO cable featuring component and S-video outs and S-video and composite inputs. A DVI-to-analog converter is also present for dual monitor enthusiasts.

Overclocking: The MSI NX6600GT-VTD128 AGP was one of the better overclockers in this group, topping out at 581 core/1083MHz memory. Despite the fact that it's video memory came clocked 100MHz lower than stock, this card was still able to overclock it higher that most of the other GT cards.
