Cinebench 2003 can take advantage of dual processors (it
is SMP compatible), and here we see some big benefits from the dual core
configurations. Performance results almost double with both dual core Intel
Pentium D 840 and AMD Athlon64 X2 4800+ holding a huge lead over the single core
counterparts. 64-bit videocard hardware rendering seems immature, and that may
explain why performance is lower when running the 64-bit version of this
test.
Because of different displacement algorithms
and continuous improvements of the renderer, Maya 3 and its corresponding batch
renderer is absolutely required. The Test Scene is fairly processor-intensive
and can take anywhere from 2 to 20 minutes to render depending on your system
specifications. Rendering produces 1 frame (512x512pixels). Lower times are better.
We see some big decreases in time to complete
this test with the dual core processors. The Athlon64 X2 4800+ is much faster
than its Intel counterpart however.
