3DMark06 is the worldwide standard in advanced 3D game performance benchmarking. A standalone PCI Express x16 videocard is required to make the 3DMark06 "Overall" results respectable for the MSI mPC 945 system. With that addition, the Intel 954G-based platform performs as fast as the competition.

Real-time editing, bump mapping, static lights, network system, integrated physics system, shaders, shadows, and a dynamic music system are just some of the state of-the-art features that the CryENGINE offers. The game was set to Ultra quality and the Ubisoft's Regulator demo was run.

Even at the lowest test settings, the onboard Intel GMA950 videocard cannot run FarCry to save itself. It's good to know that when a standalone PCI Express x16 videocard is used, framerates jump right back to where they should be. That kind of flexibility allows the MSI mPC 945 to tackle games about as well as any desktop PC. Or put another way, integrated video is only good for working in WindowsXP.

If you plan to build yourself a lean mean gaming machine, a stand alone videocard like the Geforce 7800GTX is an absolute necessity. The Intel GMA950 integrated videocard is simply not built to handle the same degree of processing a gaming videocard can.
