360-Degree Motherboard Gallery - Part 2

Before we continue, PCSTATS should mention that if you own the original Intel P67 B2-stepping version of this platform that is affected by the Intel P67 chipset recall, stop using the SATA II ports and switch your hard drives to the SATA III ports. The SATA III 6Gb/s ports provided by the Intel P67/H67 chipset were not defective.

Moving along.

Gigabyte's GA-P67A-UD7-B3 motherboard supports four DDR3 memory slots which accommodate up to 32GB (64-bit OS) of dual channel DDR3-2133/1866/1600/1333/1066 memory. Gigabyte provide a big physical power button for out-of-box tweaking. Just to the left are system reset (blue) and CMOS reset (black) buttons.

Socket LGA1155 for Intel Sandy Bridge processors.

Like all Intel P67 platforms, the Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD7-B3 accommodates 32nm Intel socket LGA1155 2nd Generation 'Sandy Bridge' Core i3/i5/i7 2xxx-series processors and is not backwards compatible with socket LGA1156 Lynnfield chips. The heatsink mounting holes are the same between LGA1156 and LGA1155 heatsinks. Any aftermarket CPU cooler that supports one of these CPUs will install on both. If in doubt, have a peek at Frostytech's excellent Top 5 Heatsink chart.

Clearance is average around the CPU socket.

The P67A-UD7-B3 board has a power VRM design built around 'Driver MOSFETs' which combines the functions of a driver, high MOSFET and low MOSFET into one small power efficient component (hidden below the passive heatpipe heatsinks that surround the LGA1155 CPU socket).

Big and chunky passive aluminum heatsinks connected via heatpipes help cool the special 3-in-1 MOSFETs that form part of Gigabyte's 24-phase CPU power supply.

Fine tuning features of the GA-P67A-UD7 motherboard are coming up next...
