I'll be honest,
I never thought I would say a SiS based videocard was good, but that day
has come. The SiS Xabre 400 is an excellent GPU and performs exceptionally well.
ECS have done a good job with the AG400, it's
nice to see that even though it's a low cost videocard (under $140 CDN) they
still do the little things right like thermal pastes between the GPU and heatsink.
SiS has come a long way in a very short period of time.
With the release of such chipsets like the 735 for the Athlon, 645/DX and 648
for the P4, and now finally the Xabre GPU they can no longer be associated with
"cheap and under performing". In terms of value they're hard to beat now!
Performance of the
videocard is good, outperforming the GeForce4 MX440 in almost all benchmarks, and when you factor
in the price it's an excellent solution for the budget gamer and office
user. With DirectX 8.1 compatibility it's more future proof then its competition as well.
It's also nice to
know that with subsequent driver updates, the Xabre will only get better. We're very
pleased with the ECS AG400 and the Xabre 400 in general and
can recommend this card to those who want an excellent bang for the buck ratio!
