DFI K8 SIS: In actuality,
this SIS 755 based socket 754 Athlon64 motherboard is simply the reference board
design directly from chipset maker SIS. The board serves as a reference platform
for the chipset, and not as a reference platform for component layout as with
videocards. Along AGP8x, SATA, ATA133, DDR400 and a whole host of other common
features, the SIS 755 2A features many additional points which probably won't
find their way into retail boards.
ECS Photon KV1 Deluxe: The
top of the line K8 motherboard from value-market driven ECS, the Photon KV1
Deluxe is a socket 754 Athlon64 motherboard with a long list of features that
should appeal to the gaming segment. Built on the already venerable VIA K8T800
and VT8237 chipsets, the KV1 packs in dual LAN connections, one 10/100 and one
GbE port. Along with an 800MHz FSB, the 6-layer PCB motherboard supports DDR400
memory, AGP8X, USB2.0, Firewire, UDMA133, SATA RAID, and 6 channel
audio.
ECS 755-A: SIS have recently
scored big with their Intel 655FX chipset, but it is too early to tell how the
SIS 755 chipset will handle the socket 754 Athlon64 processor. ECS are one of
only a few motherboard makers to have a SIS 755 board on display, and the ECS
755A is a good example of what consumers want. Running with an 800MHz FSB, the
755-A features DDR400 support, AGP8X, SATA150, ATA133, 10/100 LAN, and a
none-to-inspiring Realtek-based 6 channel AC'97 audio codec.
