Flip the top metal load plate down so its tab
engages with the metal retaining screw in the motherboard.
To lock the CPU in place, rotate the metal cam lever arm down towards the
closed position. The top metal load plate tab has to slip under the metal retaining screw or
the socket won't close properly.
Secure the metal lever under the retention catch. The
LGA1156 processor is now correctly installed in its socket
and ready for the next step, which is to mount the heatsink.
At this
point it's a good idea to install the motherboard into the computer case if you
haven't already. If you need any help on this topic, see this PCSTATS guide on the subject. Now it's time to install the heatsink, this isn't
complicated but can be a little tricky in the confines of a dark computer case.
