Sandra is designed to test the theoretical power of a
complete system and individual components. The numbers taken though are again,
purely theoretical and may not represent real world performance. Higher numbers
represent better performance.

The 2.0GHz AMD Turion 64 processor inside the Acer
Ferrari 4005 WLMi posts massively higher numbers than the Pentium M processors
inside the rival laptops in all but one category: memory bandwidth. Bandwidth is
one of the most essential statistics for system performance though, so it will
be interesting to see how the following benchmarks go.
SuperPI calculates the number PI to 1 Million digits in
this raw number crunching benchmark. The program allows the user to change the
number of digits of PI that can be calculated from 16 thousand to 32 million.
Our benchmark is set to 1 Million digits and 19 iterations.

All contenders but the much slower Sony VAIO notebook do
well in this benchmark. The Gigabyte n512's 1.7GHZ Pentium M actually beats the
2.0GHz AMD Turion64 by a single second.
PCMark04 can be used on desktop PCs, Laptops and even
Workstations and tests home and office computing usage. PCMark specifically
stresses the CPU, memory subsystem, graphics subsystem, hard drives, WindowsXP
GUI (if WinXP is used) and video performance.

The Acer Ferrari 4005 WLMi would not complete the hard
disk benchmark, but handily led the rest of the tests.
