The latest version of the popular PCMark series,
PCMark05 is an application-based benchmark and a premium tool for measuring
overall PC performance. It uses portions of real applications instead of
including whole applications or using specifically created code. This allows
PCMark05 to maintain a smaller installation size while still giving accurate
results.

The other notebooks were not available for PCMark05
testing. Good solid scores here, indicating that the Acer Ferrari 4005 WLMi is
not far from desktop performance levels.
By combining DirectX8 support with completely new
graphics, 3DMark 2001 SE continues to provide a good overall system benchmark.
3DMark2001 SE was created in co-operation with the major 3D accelerator and
processor manufacturers to provide a reliable set of diagnostic tools. The suite
demonstrates 3D gaming performance by using real-world gaming technology to test
a system's true abilities. Tests include: DirectX8 Vertex Shaders, Pixel Shaders
and Point Sprites, DOT3 and Environment Mapped Bump Mapping, support for Full
Scene Anti-aliasing and Texture Compression and two game tests using Ipion
real-time physics. Higher 3DMark scores denote better performance.

The new Radeon Mobile X700 GPU of the Ferrari 4005 WLMi
flexes its muscles early here, powering to a quite decent score. It is
considerably higher than the older 9700 Mobility Radeon chip in the Gigabyte
N512 laptop, and much much better than the integrated Intel "extreme" graphics
in the remaining two Sony and Gigabyte N203 notebooks.
3DMark05 is the latest version of the highly favoured
3DMark graphics benchmarking series. It is the first benchmark to require
DirectX9.0 compliant hardware with support for Pixel Shader 2.0 or higher!

These scores come as no surprise, considering the Radeon
Mobility X700 is a full Direct X9 capable part. A score of 2300+ is decent for
3DMark 2005, indicating that the Acer Ferrari 4005 WLMi should be more than
capable of handling modern games. Neither of the other two laptops could run
3DMark05.
