The left side of the Acer Ferrari 4005 WLMi laptop we
find a single PCMCIA card slot, micro IEEE 1394 firewire port and the
fourth USB 2.0 jack. To the left of those ports are the Gigabit Ethernet
(RJ45) and telephone 56K modem (RJ11) ports, a large vent area for
the heated exhaust to exit the notebook, and a full size analog
VGA-out connector. One of the nice features of the Ferrari 4005 notebook is
that comes with a full size digital DVI video connector port too,
so users can easily hook up to a CRT or
LCD monitor.
The 2.0GHz AMD Turion 64 processor is a toasty
processor, and the cooling fans continuously emitted an uncomfortably hot
stream of air during the benchmarking sessions. During
more relaxed computing, the exhaust air was relatively cool, and the smell
of "new notebook" filled the air. :-)
The Lithium Ion battery pack occupies much of the rear
space on the Acer Ferrari 4005 WLMi laptop. On the left hand side in
the space that remains
are the S-Video and DVI video outputs, and on the opposite side the proprietary PCI
Express connector for an optional docking station.
The battery is finished in ridged black plastic, making it easy
to grip. Two small catches on the base of the notebook keep
the 14.8V, 3800mAh Lithium-iom battery firmly locked into place
