Built on Intel's 65 nanometer manufacturing process and with two physical processing cores running at 3.2 GHz each, backed up by 2MB of L2 cache, the socket 775 chip certainly makes quite a splash.

Please note that the Athlon64 FX-60 system was using two
GeForce 7800GTXs running in SLI - that score is shown simply for reference. The
overall results for the Intel Pentium D 940 do not see much of a boost from
overclocking, but the CPU score certainly does. Overclocking to 4.4GHz pushes
the Pentium D 940 into Athlon64 FX-62 territory!
