Content
Creation Winstone 2004 is a system-level, application-based benchmark that
measures a PC's overall performance when running top, Windows-based, 32-bit,
content creation applications in Windows XP. Business Winstone 2004 runs real
applications through a series of scripted activities and uses the time a PC
takes to complete these activities to produce its performance scores. Higher
numbers are better.
These benchmarks do not work on Windows XP 64, so the
results have been omitted.

The Intel Pentium D 840 derives very little advantage
from dual-core operations in Winstone 2004, though it may have received a small
boost to the Content Creation score. Without its dual core advantage, the Intel
Pentium D 840 achieves scores equivalent to its 3.2GHz single-core sibling, the
Intel Pentium 4 540.
Overclocking provides a small performance advantage, but
the AMD Athlon64 X2 4800+ again proves faster by 22-23%.
CINEBENCH
2003 is the free benchmarking tool for Windows and Mac OS based on the powerful
3D software CINEMA 4D RX. The tool is set to deliver accurate benchmarks by
testing not only a computer's raw processing speed but also all other areas that
affect system performance such as OpenGL, multi threading, and multiprocessors.
Higher numbers are better.

Cinebench 2003 supports multiple processors, and in the
2-CPU section of this benchmark we see the Intel Pentium D 840 come into its own
in rendering power. Oddly, it scores slightly less than the Pentium 4 540 in the
other single-core benchmarks. Overclocking provides a good performance boost,
especially in the shading benchmark.
The Intel Pentium D 840 still lags behind the AMD
Athlon64 X2 4800+, providing scores that are again 15-20% lower in Cinebench
2003.
